When the Presidency Comes With a Grift Shop
PALM BEACH, FL — Eric Trump has finally said the quiet part out loud. In a recent interview at the Mar-a-Lago Pro Shop and Wine Cellar, the second-most outspoken Trump son admitted that the family business does much better when his father is president of the United States.
“It’s not rocket science,” Eric said. “You put ‘Trump’ on the ballot and on the bathrobe, and suddenly our hotel lobbies are full of global interest.”
Real Estate, Retail, and Rallies
Eric pointed to increased sales at Trump-branded properties, merchandise, and “MAGA Moment” event packages. He claims international guests are flooding back to Trump resorts, citing everything from improved vibes to an uncanny desire to pose with cardboard cutouts of Don Jr.
He also noted that “the return of the family name to government makes everything feel a little more exclusive.”
Ethics Experts Slightly Alarmed, Not at All Surprised
Watchdogs and former ethics officials reacted with expected concern. Many say Eric’s comments reflect the exact type of behavior the Emoluments Clause was designed to prevent. One former ethics lawyer described it as “an infomercial for why conflict of interest laws exist.”
Eric, however, disagreed. “We’re just providing an experience. It’s not corruption if the souvenirs are amazing.”
When Power and Profit Fly First Class Together
Sources inside the Trump Organization report that new branded offerings are in development. These include “Presidential Golf Packages,” a “Trump Justice Blend” coffee line, and limited-edition legal defense fund candles.
At press time, Eric was seen unveiling a new Trump International Hotel slogan: Stay Where the Decisions Are Made, Or At Least Texted From.
