Trump Defends Qatari Jet as “Temporary Air Force One,” Compares It to Trojan Horse, But for Freedom

Says the only thing hidden inside this plane is “exceptional leather and better American diplomacy”.

What You Need to Know

• Trump confirmed the U.S. will accept a $400 million Boeing 747-8 from Qatar’s royal family

• He claims it’s a temporary replacement for the aging Air Force One fleet

• Critics call it a risky diplomatic gift, but Trump insists it’s “a Trojan Horse — except we win this time”

Luxury Gift or Flight Risk?

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Trump defended the government’s decision to accept a luxury Boeing 747-8 from Qatar as a stopgap Air Force One, dismissing criticism by reframing the jet as “a symbol of elite mobility and modern negotiation.”

The aircraft, gifted by Qatar’s royal family, includes high-end interiors and security upgrades. While some question the optics of accepting such a gift from a foreign monarchy, Trump says the situation is being misunderstood. “It’s not a bribe, it’s a beautiful airplane,” he said. “And unlike the Trojan Horse, what’s inside this thing is pure greatness.”

Aged Wings, Delayed Deliveries

The current Air Force One fleet, now more than 30 years old, has become increasingly unreliable. Boeing has delayed the new aircraft’s delivery multiple times, prompting Trump to slam what he called “the Obama-era incompetence that got us grounded in the first place.”

He added, “Obama let the project stall. I got Boeing back on track. And when Qatar offered us this flying miracle? I said, why not accept excellence?”

Trojan Horse, But Make It Gold

Leaning into historical metaphors, Trump told reporters, “Remember the Trojan Horse? That was a sneak attack. This is a sneak upgrade.” He claimed the aircraft includes enhanced communication systems, a diplomatic suite, and “flooring that inspires confidence.”

Trump also joked that if any enemies try hiding inside this jet, “they’ll be too busy enjoying the cappuccino bar to start anything.”

Reactions Vary by Altitude

Government watchdogs raised concerns over the implications of accepting gifts from authoritarian allies. However, Trump supporters see it differently. One rallygoer said, “We used to ride horses into battle. Now we ride luxury jets into greatness.”

Back at the White House, staffers have begun calling the aircraft “Liberty One.” It remains unclear whether the name will stick, but insiders say embroidered headrests are already in production.
