Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has a new strategy for dealing with criticism: “I know you are but what am I?”

At a recent press conference, DeSantis was asked about the ongoing legal battle between his administration and Walt Disney Co. Rather than addressing the substance of the lawsuit, DeSantis responded with a classic playground comeback.

“I’m rubber, you’re glue,” DeSantis declared. “Whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you.”

The puzzled reporters looked on as DeSantis continued his childish retorts.

“Your face is red, like a tomato!” he exclaimed. “And your shoes are untied! Ha!”

When asked how this approach would resolve the dispute with Disney, DeSantis shrugged and said, “Who cares? I’m the governor, I can do what I want. Na-na-na-na-na!”

The room erupted in laughter as DeSantis gave a victory dance and made faces at the reporters.

Critics of DeSantis were quick to denounce his behavior, calling it immature and unprofessional. But the governor remained undeterred, insisting that he was simply using his “big boy words” to stand up to his adversaries.

“I’m a tough guy, I can take it,” DeSantis boasted. “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me!”

It remains to be seen whether DeSantis’ new strategy will be effective in resolving the legal dispute with Disney. But one thing is certain: Florida politics just got a lot more childish.
