A Taylor Swift concert turned into a nightmare for one fan last night, as she waited for two hours for a second encore that never occurred.
Samantha Johnson, 21, had been looking forward to the concert for months, and had splurged on VIP tickets in the hopes of getting up close and personal with the pop superstar. But after a rousing first encore, Samantha found herself waiting and waiting for Taylor to return to the stage.
“I just couldn’t believe it,” Samantha said. “I mean, I know Taylor likes to leave her fans wanting more, but this was ridiculous. A 3 hour concert and only 1 encore. We all thought she was coming back out, but then the lights came on and they started tearing down the stage. It was like a bad dream.”
Despite her disappointment, Samantha refused to leave, convinced that Taylor would make a surprise appearance for her die-hard fans. She even started a chant, hoping to get the attention of the backstage crew: “Encore! Encore!”
But as the minutes turned into hours, Samantha began to realize that she had been duped. “I guess I was naive,” she said. “I thought Taylor cared about her fans, but it’s clear that she just wants to make a quick buck and move on to the next city.”
Samantha’s experience is not unique, as other fans have also reported feeling shortchanged by Taylor’s concerts. “It’s like she’s playing a game with us,” said one fan. “She’ll give us a taste of what we want, but never enough to satisfy our cravings. It’s really frustrating.”
Taylor Swift’s representatives have yet to comment on the incident, but sources close to the singer say that she is aware of the backlash and is considering adding more encores to her future shows. “Taylor cares about her fans, but she also has a busy schedule,” said one insider. “She’ll try to make it up to them in the future, but for now, they’ll just have to settle for one encore.”
