DeSantis Accused of Sending Dragon Slayer to Disney to Take Down Show Prop

Last updated: April 23, 2023 3:28 PM CT

BREAKING – A dragon at Disneyland caught fire during a performance of “Fantasmic!” over the weekend, prompting rumors that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis may have sent a dragon slayer to sabotage the beloved theme park. A source that wishes to remain anonymouse has said that the Florida Governor picked Disneyland in California instead of Disney World in Florida to not draw too much attention to the matter.

According to eyewitnesses, the 45-foot animatronic dragon, which is styled after the villain Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, began to emit smoke and flames from its head before the entire creature was engulfed in flames. Cast members quickly evacuated the area, and no injuries were reported.

However, some guests at the park have started to speculate that the incident was not an accident, but rather a deliberate act of sabotage by Governor DeSantis, who has been in a feud with Disney over his proposed bill to give him control over the theme park’s special Florida district.

In Florida, Walt Disney World operates within a special tax district that provides the theme park with a number of advantages, including a special governing board that oversees certain aspects of the park’s operations. This district was established in the 1960s to incentivize Disney to build in Florida, and has since become a key part of the theme park’s success in the state.

However, in recent years, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken issue with the district, arguing that it is not accountable enough to the state government. DeSantis has proposed a bill that would give him more control over the district, including the ability to appoint more members to its governing board.

While some supporters of the bill argue that it will increase transparency and accountability within the district, opponents believe that it could lead to political interference in Disney’s operations. Disney itself has been relatively quiet on the issue, with a spokesperson stating that the company “will continue to engage with lawmakers and local officials on any legislation that could impact our business.”

The controversy over the special tax district is just one example of the tension that exists between Disney and some Florida lawmakers. In recent years, the company has clashed with state officials over issues such as workers’ rights and tax incentives. Despite these conflicts, however, Walt Disney World remains a popular destination for tourists from around the world, and is a major contributor to the state’s economy.

“Who else could have sent a dragon slayer to take out Maleficent like that?” said one park-goer, who wished to remain anonymous. “It’s no secret that DeSantis wants to take control of Disney, and this could be his way of showing that he means business. I mean, do you remember the horse head from the Godfather movies?”

Despite the rumors, Disney officials have stated that they do not believe the fire was intentionally started, and are currently investigating the cause of the incident.

In the meantime, the park’s popular “Fantasmic!” show remains closed, much to the disappointment of visitors who were looking forward to seeing Mickey Mouse defeat Maleficent with his magical powers.

“It’s a real shame that we won’t be able to see the dragon again anytime soon,” said one guest. “But if it was Ron DeSantis who did this, I hope he knows that he can’t stop the magic of Disney.”
