After being in a coma for over 18 years, Brian Franklin, a resident of Springfield Missouri, woke up to a world that was vastly different from the one he remembered. He was devastated to learn that his parents had passed away while he was in a coma and heartbroken to discover that his wife Pam had left him for his former best friend, Steve, to start a family.
Brian was understandably overwhelmed and struggling to come to terms with everything that had changed during his coma. He had so many questions – How much would 18 years in the hospital cost? Does he still have his job at Old Country Buffet? Would he ever be able to catch up on all the TV shows he missed?
But then, in a moment of pure joy, he discovered that Blockbuster video had gone bankrupt and out of business after a nurse was asking him if he wanted to wach anything on Netflix. Finally, after years of dreading those pesky late fees for his copy of Mean Girls that he never returned, Brian was free from Blockbuster’s grip.
“Can you believe it? I’m off the hook!” Brian exclaimed, tears of relief streaming down his face. “I may have lost almost everything else, but at least I don’t have to pay for that damn movie anymore!” When asked for a comment on her ex-husband’s reaction to the demise of Blockbuster, Brian’s ex-wife Pam quipped, “Well, at least he’ll always have Mean Girls to keep him company now.”
Despite the hardships he had faced, Brian was ecstatic to have one less thing to worry about. Who knew that the bankruptcy of a video rental store would bring him such joy? Maybe this was a sign that his luck was about to turn around. Or maybe not. Either way, he was just happy to have one less thing to worry about in this new and confusing world.
