New York, NY – Former President Donald Trump’s arraignment in Manhattan may have caused some tension, but it had an unexpected outcome: New York City residents coming together to tell Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene to leave.
Greene, a Republican Congresswoman from Georgia, had come to Manhattan to support Trump, but quickly found herself unwelcome. As she exited the courthouse, she was met with a sea of New Yorkers shouting, “Get the hell out of New York City!” and “We don’t want your craziness here!”
Undeterred, Greene tried to speak to the crowd, but her words were drowned out by people blowing whistles, booing and jeering. She only stayed for a few minutes before scurrying back to her hotel, reportedly embarrassed at how little New Yorkers cared for her brand of politics.
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” said one bystander. “People of all races, religions, and political beliefs were united in telling this woman that she’s not welcome here. It was a New York goodbye, and she got the message loud and clear.”
Meanwhile, Trump’s arraignment proceeded behind closed doors, with the former president surrendering to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office on the afternoon of April 4. He immediately returned to his Florida residence, where he is said to be planning his 2024 presidential campaign.
Despite the charges against him, Trump still has a loyal following, but it seems that New York City residents are not among them. If Greene’s experience is any indication, Trump’s return to Manhattan may not be a warm one.
