Marjorie Taylor Greene, a controversial politician known for her outspoken views on immigration, recently proposed a solution to the issue of illegal immigration. In a speech given to a group of supporters, Greene suggested that the best way for undocumented immigrants to become legal residents is to marry someone who is already a United States citizen, especially if it’s a “suggar mommy or daddy”.
“Look at Melania Trump, for example,” Greene said. “She married Donald Trump and was able to become a citizen. It’s a simple and effective solution that more people should consider.” She went on to say, “I’m recently divorced, maybe I can find me a nice immigrant to marry and make them legal.”
Greene’s comments drew criticism from both sides of the political spectrum, with many accusing her of promoting marriage fraud and exploiting a legal loophole. However, Greene remained steadfast in her belief that marrying a U.S. citizen is a viable path to citizenship.
“Everyone deserves a chance to live the American dream, and if that means marrying someone to become a citizen, so be it,” Greene said. “It’s not fraud if it’s done legally, and it’s certainly better than sneaking across the border.”
Despite the controversy, Greene’s proposal has gained traction among some of her supporters, who see it as a creative solution to a complex issue.
