Kamala Proposes to Raise Yearly Subscription Fees to Live in the U.S.

Last updated: August 21, 2024 8:33 PM CT

Vice President Kamala Harris has suggested increasing the yearly subscription fees required to live in the United States. While this move is already sparking debate, it’s her plan to crack down on “unregistered American Dreams” that’s drawing the most attention.

A Pricey Place to Live

As the cost of living continues to rise, Harris’s proposal aims to ensure that everyone contributes their fair share to the American experience. The proposed fee increase would see residents paying a higher annual subscription to maintain their status in the country, similar to paying for a premium membership in an exclusive club.

“Living in America is a privilege, and it’s time we treat it as such,” Harris stated during a recent press conference. “We’re simply asking residents to invest more in the country they call home.”

Cracking Down on Unregistered American Dreams

However, it’s not just the subscription fee hike that’s causing a stir. Harris also announced a new initiative to crack down on what she calls “unregistered American Dreams.” According to the Vice President, millions of citizens are pursuing dreams—whether it’s starting a business, writing a novel, or owning a home—without properly registering them with the government.

“Everyone wants a piece of the American Dream, but not everyone is doing it by the book,” Harris explained. “Unregistered dreams are slipping through the cracks, and we need to put a stop to that. If you’re going to dream big, you need to make sure it’s official.”

Under the new plan, citizens would be required to file their dreams with the government and pay a registration fee. Those caught dreaming without the proper paperwork could face fines or even the suspension of their subscription to live in the U.S.

The Public Reaction

Unsurprisingly, the proposal has sparked a wave of reactions from both supporters and critics. Some argue that it’s only fair for people to pay more if they want to live in a country with so many opportunities. Others, however, see the crackdown on unregistered dreams as a step too far.

“First they want more money just to live here, and now they want to control our dreams?” one critic tweeted. “This is beyond absurd.”

Supporters of the plan argue that it’s a necessary step to maintain order and ensure that everyone is contributing equally. “If you’re benefiting from the American Dream, you should be paying into it,” said one supporter. “This is about fairness and accountability.”

What’s Next?

As the proposal makes its way through the legislative process, the debate over the new fees and the crackdown on unregistered dreams is sure to intensify. Whether or not the plan will pass remains to be seen, but it’s clear that Kamala Harris is pushing the boundaries of what it means to live—and dream—in America.
