Former President Donald J. Trump has declared that he will not pay the $5 million in damages against him in the civil lawsuit filed by writer E. Jean Carroll.
In a statement released by his legal team, Trump declared that he had no intention of paying the damages, stating that he would not allow the “fake news media and the radical left” to use the courts to silence him.
“I have always stood up to bullies and I will not back down now,” Trump’s statement read. “I have never paid any of my other obligations or debts, and I will not pay this one either. It’s a matter of principle.”
The statement went on to accuse Carroll of being a “political operative” who was out to destroy Trump’s reputation. Trump claimed that the verdict was politically motivated and had nothing to do with the facts of the case.
“I have nothing to hide, and I have done nothing wrong,” the statement read. “I will continue to fight for the truth and for the American people, and I will not let the radical left silence me with their lies.”
Legal experts say that Trump’s refusal to pay the damages could result in further legal action, including the seizure of assets or even criminal charges. But Trump’s statement made it clear that he was willing to face any consequences in order to stand up for what he believed in.
“I will not be intimidated or bullied by the courts, the media, or anyone else,” the statement read. “I will continue to fight for what’s right, no matter what the cost.”
The statement ended with a call to action for Trump’s supporters, urging them to stand with him in his fight against the “deep state” and the “fake news media.” by donating to his political endeavors.
“Join me in this fight for freedom and justice,” the statement read. “Together, we can overcome any obstacle and make America great again.”
